About Me
Stewart Ford Edinburgh is a successful businessman, mentor, entrepreneur, venture capitalist, and the giver. He has been in business for over 35 years and has worked in many fields, from fintech to renewable energy. Throughout his career, he has helped raise nearly £5 billion for structured investments, renewable energy projects, and venture capital funds.
Current Roles & Responsibilities
Since 2004, Stewart has been putting money into new businesses. He sees this job as an opportunity to help people get from where they are now to where they want to be. He has given money to many businesses over the years and is also happy to give advice based on his many years of working at every company level. Stewart has always put a high value on working with talented people and has helped many of his colleagues and peers advance in their fields based on their skills.
Stewart is the perfect VC partner because of his experience and professional achievements. No matter where he is, Stewart finds an organization's most valuable assets and uses them to his best advantage. He can adapt to any situation, making him a valuable asset in business.
For example, when Stewart was working with a specific fund manager, he quickly saw the person's talent. He encouraged him to market his skills by establishing a special venture capitalist trust. The manager was able to bring in a lot of money.
Stewart Ford Edinburgh relies on his experience and gut feelings to help him decide what to do next, whether he is consulting or thinking about a new plan.
History of Work
Steward has set up several Income and Growth Venture Capital Trusts. He was on the board of these PLC companies, where he contributed his practical way of thinking and business sense, which led to measurable results. These trusts had very different goals for their investments. Some invested money into AIM-listed companies with significant growth potential, while others invested in renewable energy assets. These investment trusts benefited from Stewart's ability to raise much investment money through his financial distribution channels, especially for renewable energy assets.
Stewart also started a few of his businesses, such as the New Media Marketing and Design Agency Zig-Zag Communications. Ultimately, the company became the most well-known business in Scotland then. Zig-Zag would print magazines, make brochures, and even film and edit TV commercials for the Scottish Television Group.
Stewart moved up the business ladder partly because he kept up with the latest trends. For example, he saw how successful commercial digital photography studios were in the US, so in 1991, he set up his studios in the UK. In the 1990s, Stewart helped many companies move into the internet age by specializing in interactive CD-ROMs, digital corporate presentations, and data storage and warehousing.
After he became well-known in his field, Stewart Ford Edinburgh started Keydata UK LTD. This offshoot became the largest provider of financial products and information to 30,000 professionals. Stewart has been very interested in this field, which changes quickly because of how people buy things. He has seen how people invest in change, what they invest in, and what's behind these changes. Sharing information with other people gives them the tools they need to support their client's money in a way that will help them build a more robust portfolio.
Skills and Experience in the Workplace
Stewart is a professional who has worked in marketing, publishing, renewable energy, and life settlement assets, among other fields. In every group he was a part of, he always paid attention to what was working and what wasn't. His ideas and advice helped turn businesses that were losing money into ones that made many millions of pounds. While at Keydata, he bought a regulated industry called Fedsure that was losing money, changed its name and focus, and turned it into a multi-billion-pound investment business that made money. Stewart was a big part of setting up the infrastructure and management teams that helped lead the projects he started and raised about 5 billion pounds in investment funds over the years.
From sales and marketing to client services to financial administration work, Stewart works to establish order and efficiency before stepping back so the team can get on with the job. He is adept at finding people whose skills complement one another, so there's less friction and more productivity. This skill would give him some of the best returns throughout his career. Stewart thinks being a leader doesn't mean trying to care for everything. It's about making a company's basic "shape" and then letting qualified people fill in the gaps.
Giving to charity (philanthropy)
After his daughter was born with Ring Chromosome 20, Stewart Ford Edinburgh set up the Ring Chromosome 20 Charitable Trust in 2002. Stewart also opened a medical office in New York in 2006 to help people with seizures. This group is still helping with research and sharing information about this disorder.
The Foundation is doing everything it can to get people to talk about their symptoms and how they are being treated, whether they are family members, patients, or doctors. The more people know about the disorder, the more likely they will find out how to best care for people with it.
Stewart is also very involved with a program called "Jeeps for Peace," which sends 4x4 vehicles to Ukraine. These are sent to the frontline and used to get back soldiers who have been hurt or civilians who have been moved. So far, the people who help Jeeps for Peace have sent more than 36 jeeps. He wants to be able to give at least 100 Jeeps.
Mentoring
Stewart's most important business mentors were managing directors in the publishing, renewable energy, and financial services industries.
Stewart Ford Edinburgh is a great mentor because he builds trust with people and strengthens those connections over time. Since a long time ago, the business has been moving at the speed of light, and technology is at the heart of this. Stewart's experience and advice are significant because they help the people he mentors stop and think about what's happening to better predict what's around the corner.
Accomplishments
Stewart is skilled and has experience in structured investments, fintech, venture capital, renewable energy, publishing, digital photography, new media, advertising, and more. In 2007 he recognized that his personal and business assets were in strong enough shape that he could step down from day-to-day operations. With a net worth of more than £500 million, he moved to Switzerland for the next ten years and worked on getting better at mentoring and giving money to good causes.
